Institutional Research And Planning(IRP)

IRP is the division of IRID charged with the responsibility of supporting the information and planning needs of MIST. Its focus will be on addressing the twin demands of internally directed decision-making and externally mandated accountability reporting.

In that respect IRPU shall undertake research for the purpose of planning and institutional advancement. It shall serve as a repository for definitions and reporting standards that establishes clear communication procedures between divisions. It shall also serve as an information clearinghouse for the university, producing publicly accessible statistical summaries of the university, including an online Fact Book, providing data about the university to governmental agencies (e.g. NCTE, NAB), responding to external requests for information and  coordinating the university’s participation in a variety of consortia data exchanges (e.g. GARNET, CARLIGH).

IRP shall contribute to MIST’s strategic mission by anticipating change, identifying opportunities and formulating actions based on evidence derived from institutional and industry dynamics. IRPU shall thus collaborate with the MIST community to identify information needs, collect and manage data, provide analysis, and disseminate clear and accurate findings that encourage the transformation of knowledge into meaningful action.  By so doing it shall serve the diverse information needs and reporting demands of the MIST community and external entities in a timely, unbiased, and responsible manner.
