IAC is the division of IRID charged with the responsibility of entrenching MIST in the Ecowas sub-region and building its global profile. Institutional Advancement in the 21st Century goes beyond the traditional approach of fund raising, leveraging one’s internal and external (incl. alumni) networks. It is a complex mix of all these underpinned by globalization, cultural diversity, and the use of innovative technologies, such as the MOOCS platforms, Google Education Apps and Social Media, in extending the reach of universities beyond their walls and national borders. These developments require adoption of and exploitation of multi-prong innovative strategies to position an institution to respond appropriately to the competition.
Moreover, it would require not only putting the acts of the institution together locally but also building a global profile for the institution.
As part of measures being taken to entrench the position of MIST in the Ecowas Higher Education landscape, staffing of the IACD shall be retooled with the relevant knowledge, skills and resources for establishing and managing international relations, managing cultural diversity on campus, and responding appropriately to issues concerning the institute that are being discussed in the media (e.g. Facebook, tweeter, Instagram etc.)
To build our global profile, we would need to establish world class teaching, learning and research labs, and attract and maintain brilliant students and faculty from across the world. MIST intends to meet this challenge by equipping IACD with the knowledge and skills to mobilize funds internally through innovative internal sources of revenue as well as through partnership with corporate entities in industry and global institutions and universities.
