On Wednesday 17th May, 2017 the Vice-President, Naa (Alhaj) ALi Pelpou sworn-in the first Students' Representative Council's Executives of Madina Institute of Science and Technology (MIST).
Naa (Alhaj) Naa Ali Pelpuo, congratulated the newly elected Executives and commended the good works of both the Electoral Commission and behavior of students during the electioneering period. After a brief explanation on how the oath was going to be administered, he swore them into office. "as the mouth piece of students, you should work
harmoniously with management of MIST", he said. He advised them "....to be patient and execute their obligations with fairness and consult with students to know their needs". More importantly he reiterated the need for circumspection.
The Dean of the School of Business and Technology, Dr. Justice Salifu Rahman, congratulated and wished the student body well as they embark on this journey of student leadership. Though he decried students’ apathy and sense of time, he nevertheless encouraged them to make judicious use of this resource. Like the Vice-President he urged them to be patient and listen to the concerns of students, whilst at the same time, being farsighted with a defined vision. He advised them not to think about writing history, but rather work towards this vision.
The SRC President-elect on his part was inspired by the presence of the Deans and Vice-President with the "....hope that the future of the Madina Institute of Science and Technology, MIST is very bright. This thought streams from my personal experience of the leadership and transcending values you have showcased within the four corners of this institution." He expressed his gratitude to the various stakeholders who participated in forming the Council and most especially ".....the Electoral Commission for the tireless and impartial services they rendered in ensuring a free, fair and peaceful election. I wish to say Kudos to Zilal Muhammed Ibn Chambers and his dedicated team".
He urged the students to grant the Executives the necessary cooperation as they assume office to server and champion the students interest. He Reminded them of the African proverb " A single strand of a broom cannot sweep the floor, but when these strands are brought together, they produce remarkable results".
He advise the students who wish failure during his term of office to reconsider their decision. He referred them to ex-President Barak Obama's saying "Hoping your president fails is the same as hoping your country fails, and it's not patriotism. Patriotism is helping your commander-in-chief even if you don't agree with him on everything".
Management of Madina Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) paid a visit to the National Chief Imam of Ghana (Shaik Usmanu Nuhu Sharubutu) to introduce the new Islamic University that is yet to be accredited to start it educational
program. During their fruitful discussion, a lot of issues of interest came up, which includes how the programs of the institution will be run to help give a better knowledge to the people of Ghana and the rest of the world
Management of Madina Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) paid a courtesy call to The Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer- Buckle a Ghanaian Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church. During the visit, a lot of issues were discussed including how Muslims and Christians can work hand in hand through unity and cohesion to achieve freedom of worship and stability of the nation Ghana.
